New York, NY — January 10, 2026 — Author Dawnheather Sutton, writing as DH Sutton, announces the release of
The Final Mission, a fast-paced military thriller that combines action, emotional depth, and unexpected
connection. Set against the dangerous backdrop of Costa Rica’s El Zona Sur, the novel explores what happens
when unfinished business from the battlefield collides with unresolved personal loss.
At the center of the story is Brice Lewis, a battle-hardened U.S. Army Special Operations operative preparing
for retirement when he receives one last urgent assignment. His target is Nico Diablo, a former teammate who
has transformed into a ruthless drug lord responsible for the deaths of fellow soldiers—and for leaving Brice
himself presumed dead.
As Brice assembles an elite team to dismantle Diablo’s criminal empire, the mission takes an unexpected turn.
He encounters Jenna Shanks, an American woman driven by grief and determination to uncover the truth
behind her fiancé Jake’s mysterious death. Armed with nothing but a map Jake left behind, Jenna is willing to
risk everything for answers—even as the jungle and its dangers close in.
Recognizing the peril she faces, Brice insists Jenna remain close as their paths merge. What begins as a
protective decision evolves into something far more complex as they navigate treacherous terrain, hostile
forces, and secrets that bind their stories together. The deeper they travel into the rainforest, the clearer it
becomes that Jake’s death is connected to Diablo’s operations—and to Brice’s own unfinished mission.
Sutton skillfully balances high-intensity action with emotional resonance, revealing the vulnerabilities beneath
Brice’s hardened exterior. The growing bond between Brice and Jenna challenges both characters to confront
their grief, mistrust, and long-buried emotions. As danger escalates, the line between professional duty and
personal connection blurs, forcing both to reconsider what redemption truly looks like.
Inspired by themes of loyalty, justice, and second chances, The Final Mission delivers a story where survival
depends not only on tactical skill, but on the courage to face painful truths. Sutton’s vivid descriptions and
character-driven tension keep readers immersed as the stakes rise toward a decisive and emotionally charged
conclusion.
